Academic Publishing: Predatory Journals

Academic Publishing: Predatory Journals Online
The pressure to publish is ever-present for researchers and academics, and accompanying this has been a rise in 'predatory journals'. These can exploit and target anyone from a first-time author to pay to publish, to seasoned academics to exploit their reputation. They can use small tricks like using similar names or almost identical branding to give an impression of legitimacy.
This session will go through the practical ways you can tell the difference, and warning signs to look out for when choosing which journal to submit your hard work to.
Mae'r pwysau i gyhoeddi'n fythol-bresennol i ymchwilwyr ac academyddion, ac ochr yn ochr â hyn, mae cynnydd wedi bod mewn 'cyfnodolion ysglyfaethus'. Gall y rhain ecsbloetio a thargedu unrhyw un, o awdur tro cyntaf yn gofyn iddo dalu i gyhoeddi, i academyddion profiadol er mwyn manteisio ar eu henwau da. Gallant ddefnyddio triciau bach megis defnyddio enwau tebyg neu frandio sydd bron gwmws yr un peth i roi argraff o ddilysrwydd.
Bydd y sesiwn hon yn trafod ffyrdd ymarferol o weld y gwahaniaeth, ac arwyddion rhybuddio i chwilio amdanynt wrth ddewis pa gyfnodolyn i gyflwyno eich gwaith iddo.
