Staff event - A Brave New World: Resilience and Community Online

ISS inclusive services group, SAILS and Faith & Community @CampusLife are working together to present A Brave New World: Resilience and Community, an online Human Library event for Swansea Universty staff that will take place on the 18th November via Zoom. The theme is inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic that has demanded resilience from us all as we have looked for new ways of staying connected and socialising.

The purpose of A Brave New World is to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding through human interaction. Human Books will share a significant personal experience or perspective on life that shows how they have overcome adversity and/or developed a sense of community.  Visitors to the Human Library can borrow a Book for a 15-minute personal conversation during which they are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about the Book.  Registered attendees of Human Library will receive a link to reserve their reading slot before the event.

Our objectives are to:

  • Encourage awareness and understanding across diverse cultures and communities in Swansea University

  • Allow academic and professional staff to engage on a personal level with people from communities where they have a connection through research or support services

  • Share positive stories of resilience and community building in challenging times to help our staff community during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Mae grŵp gwasanaethau cynhwysol GGS, SAILS a Ffydd a Chymuned @BywydCampws yn cydweithio i gyflwyno “Brave New World: Resilience and Community”, digwyddiad Llyfrgell Ddynol ar-lein a gynhelir ar 18 Tachwedd drwy Zoom. Ysbrydolwyd y thema gan y pandemig COVID-19 sydd wedi ein gorfodi i gyd i ddangos gwytnwch wrth i ni chwilio am ffyrdd newydd o gadw mewn cysylltiad a chymdeithasu.

Caiff ymwelwyr â’r Llyfrgell Ddynol fenthyca Llyfr am sgwrs bersonol 15 munud pan fyddant yn cael eu hannog i ofyn cwestiynau a dysgu mwy am y Llyfr. Bydd mynychwyr a gofrestrwyd y Llyfrgell Ddynol yn derbyn dolen er mwyn cadw eu slot darllen cyn y digwyddiad.
